Join us in person at Congregation Agudat Achim on Sunday 7 May 2023 at 10:30 am to hear Princeton University Professor Daniel Garber speak in honor of his father, CAA Past President William Garber, about the controversial views of Baruch Spinoza, which brought him into conflict with both Jewish and Christian authorities of his time, resulting in his excommunication.

Light refreshments will be served at 10 am in advance of the lecture.

Professor Daniel Garber – Princeton University

Daniel Garber, the A. Watson J. Armour III University Professor of Philosophy at Princeton University, grew up in Schenectady, where he and his family were members of Agudat Achim. His father served as President of our congregation in the early ‘70s. After graduating from Linton High School in 1967, Garber continued his education at Harvard University, earning a Ph.D in Philosophy in 1975. He is the author of a numerous of books and scholarly articles on philosophy, science, politics, and religion in the period of the Scientific Revolution, and he is a sought-after speaker for both general and specialized audiences.
