 speak in honor of his father\, CAA Past President William Garber\, about t
 he controversial views of Baruch Spinoza\, which brought him into conflict
  with both Jewish and Christian authorities of his time\, resulting in his

 Garber\, the A. Watson J. Armour III University Professor of Philosophy at
  Princeton University\, grew up in Schenectady\, where he and his family w
 ere members of Agudat Achim. His father served as President of our congreg
 ation in the early ‘70s. After graduating from Linton High School in 196
 7\, Garber continued his education at Harvard University\, earning a Ph.D 
 in Philosophy in 1975. He is the author of a numerous of books and scholar
 ly articles on philosophy\, science\, politics\, and religion in the perio
 d of the Scientific Revolution\, and he is a sought-after speaker for both
  general and specialized audiences.\n\n\n\n\n\n
