March 7, 2024- Exhibit Opening – “The Human Condition” and Gallery Talk

“The Human Condition” features unique Hebrew calligraphic artwork by Rabbi Linda Motzkin on irregular parchment scraps and pieces made from the skins of locally hunted deer. The texts calligraphed on these skins, derived from the 3,000-year-old corpus of Hebrew literature, reflect the range and depth of the human condition.

March 21, 2024 – A Gantze Megilla: The Making of Sacred Scrolls

The most sacred texts of our Jewish tradition are handwritten on parchment by scribes. In this lead-up to our community celebration of Purim, Rabbi Motzkin will talk about both the making of a Scroll of Esther (which she completed in 2007) and her ongoing Community Torah Project. The Community Torah Project is a long-term endeavor designed to open up this sacred process of creation, by providing individuals and groups the opportunity for hands-on participation in the making of a Torah scroll.

The exhibit is available for your viewing during regular office hours.
