The Agudat Achim Cemetery has undergone a major renovation and beautification effort. The congregation has raised funds to restore the grounds, enhance visibility, and improve accessibility. Updates included a meditation garden, new front gate and pillars, retaining walls, and replacement of several fences. Trees and vegetation were cleared to reveal hidden monuments, and a new section was created for intermarried families.
Preserving the congregation’s cemetery is an ongoing effort. The memorial garden was designed by Stracher Roth Gilmore Architects and built by Emco Construction. The memorial garden now serves as the centerpiece of the grounds. The congregation continues to see preservation and upkeep of the cemetery as an ongoing responsibility, supported by contributions to dedicated funds.
Cemetery hours are from dawn to dusk.

Congregation Agudat Achim plot locations are represented by: Section (letters), Rows and Plots (A-P).
Workman Circle (WC) plot locations are represented: Left or Right (L or R) on entrance, then Row and Plot (A-Z).
Adath Israel (Y) locations are by Row number and Plot designation from right to left (A-Z).
Note: there are other Jewish cemeteries in this area. Beth Israel, Beth Shalom and Jewish Free Association. Those records are not available here. Please contact those organizations.
Visiting the cemeteries should be during the period from dawn to dusk. Perpetual Care by the synagogue relates to the grounds. Individual stone maintenance is not included. We attempt to keep stones presentable with occasional cleaning. Because of family choices on vendor, materials and design, the synagogue is not responsible for consequences of those choices.

The cemetery is located at the end of Schermerhorn Street in Rotterdam.
From Niskayuna and parts east: Take Route 7 West (also called Troy-Schenectady Road, also called Crosstown Expressway) to its junction with Interstate 890. Do not get on I-890, but continue on the same road, which is called Chrisler Avenue. Go under an overpass and take your next right onto Chapel Avenue. Take it until it ends, turn left, and take your first right onto Schermerhorn Street.
From Schenectady and parts west: Get on Route 146 by the most convenient method. Follow Route 146 until you reach the section with the name Hamburg Street, which is between Route 5 (State Street) on the north and Route 7 (Curry Road) on the south. If you are traveling from the north, Schermerhorn Street is the seventh left turn after the intersection with Altamont Avenue; the preceding street is Chism Street. If you are traveling from the south, Schermerhorn Street is the second right after the overpass that takes you over Chrisler Avenue; the preceding street is called Central Avenue (but is not the same road as Central Avenue, Route 5, in Colonie).
