This lecture will dive into the origins of the community in the medieval period, its growth in the 18th and 19th centuries, and how they contributed to the founding of the independent Irish state in 1922. Key figures will be discussed including, Mayor and revolutionary (Member of Parliament for 40 years) Robert Briscoe, Israeli President Chaim Herzog, Holocaust victim Ettie Steinberg, and artist Harry Kernoff.
