Chef Ellen brings to Agudat Achim over 20 years of experience in the food services industry, with a special emphasis in kosher and American regional cuisine. Whether you are looking for a casual event or a fine dining experience, Chef Ellen’s emphasis on food preparation with quality ingredients and customized menus and presentation make any event special and memorable.
Prior to joining Congregation Agudat Achim, Ellen worked in full-service kosher catering as Head Chef at Avril Kaye, Inc. in Scarsdale, NY, and at Added Touch Catering in Atlanta, GA. Her culinary background is a blend of American regional styles acquired while working professionally from Soldotna, AL, to Cape Cod, MA. Her wide-ranging career in San Francisco, CA (La Folie), Atlanta, GA (Canoe), Williamsburg, VA (The Colonial Williamsburg Inn), and Hyde Park, NY (The Culinary Institute of America, American Bounty Restaurant) also makes Ellen a connoisseur of French and Euro-Asian cuisine.
Chef Ellen is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, NY, where she received the Francis L. Roth Award for Outstanding Performance in 1992. Ellen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Ithaca College. She resides in Niskayuna with her husband and two children.
